Troubleshooting the charging issue:

Your TomTom VIA device battery charges when you connect it to your vehicle charger. You can also charge the TomTom VIA device by connecting it to your computer or USB home charger. If your TomTom VIA device is not charging when connected to any of the charging devices, press and hold the Power button for five seconds. If the battery seems to be faulty, change it.

Troubleshooting the GPS signal issue:

When your TomTom VIA GPS device cannot calculate the route due to a bad signal, make sure that the device is positioned near a window or outside the car. If not, place it at the position where you get the maximum possible signal. It may take a couple of minutes. So, wait until your device retains the GPS signal. Try to install the software updates for your device by following the steps given below.

For Android:

  • To download content and use TomTom services, you should have a TomTom account.
  • If you don’t have a TomTom account, visit the official TomTom site and click the Create account button.
  • After creating the TomTom account, sign in to it and click the Get Started button.
  • Click on Download MyDrive Connect.
  • Carry out the on-screen instructions.
  • When you are asked to connect your TomTom VIA to your computer, connect it using the provided USB cable.
  • Turn on your TomTom VIA device.
  • Input the requested information for account creation.
  • Once the setup is complete, access MyDrive Connect from the notification area of your desktop.
  • Check for any available updates for your TomTom VIA device.
  • If the software updates are available, update them to fix the issues on your device.

If the TomTom VIA 1605TM troubleshooting fails to resolve the problem, press and hold the On/Off button until you see the TomTom VIA device restart. This will reset your device to its factory default settings.
